Challenge Accepted!

It’s Ash Wednesday and you know what that means! Well besides people walking around with schmutz on their foreheads. It means it’s that time of year when friends drop off of Facebook for forty days and your borderline alcoholic friend tries to give up drinking. As for me, I’m not usually one to give up things for Lent. While raised in a Catholic-ish family, we just didn’t go in for that sort of thing. Plus it always seemed like a bummer – which I get is the whole point, but still. I’m more of a everything in moderation kinds of gal. But this year I came across the 40 Bags in 40 Days Challenge over at White House Black Shutters and thought “OH I can give up some clutter!” and jumped on the bandwagon.

This house may be small but there is clutter EVERYWHERE. In hall closets and desk drawers. Kitchen cabinets full of gadgets and gizmos I don’t use (cake ball maker, anyone?). The other day I came across a box I had shoved in a crawlspace almost SIX YEARS AGO when we moved in. I kinda wish I had saved it, that would have counted as my Day 1 box. Oh well.

If you are interested in joining this challenge, Ann Marie of White House Black Shutters started the challenge and even has a printable to help you organize your de-cluttering and a Facebook group and even a list of non-stuff clutter that you can get rid of too.

Speaking of non-stuff clutter, I have also decided to commit to meditating daily for the next 40 days to clear out some mind clutter (and also because I seem to be incapable of doing ONE DAMN THING AT A TIME).

Om.

Ok, let’s do this!
